Collegium of Kerala High Court unanimously recommended Justice Sudha’s name which was duly approved by the Supreme Court Collegium.
The Collegium on 16-08-2023 reiterated its proposal dated 10-08-2023 to transfer Justice Bhatnagar to Rajasthan High Court.
In its Resolution dated 17-08-2023, the Collegium recommended the names of the judicial officers and advocates to be appointed as Judges in High Courts of Gauhati and Orissa.
Justice Sudhir Singh’s transfer from Patna to Punjab and Haryana High Court was originally proposed by the Collegium on 03-08-2023.
Recommendation to transfer 14 High Court Judges was came on 10-08-2023. Earlier on 03-08-2023, the Collegium resolved to transfer 9 Judges. Thus, between these 2 dates, a total of 23 High Court Judges have been recommended for transfer.
Collegium cited better administration of justice as being the reason for transfer of 9 High Court Judges.
Justice Subhasis Talapatra, former judge of the High Court of Tripura, was sworn in as 33rd Chief Justice of the High Court of Orissa on 08-08-2023 upon superannuation of his predecessor Dr. Justice S. Muralidhar.
Out of the 4 names, one woman advocate has been recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium for appointment as a High Court Judge.
Supreme Court Collegium took note of factors like Seniority, Merit, Integrity, Diversity & Inclusion while recommending the names of Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice S Venkatanarayana Bhatti for elevation.

Justice Jaswant Singh who was appointed as the 7th Chief Justice of Tripura High Court, has had an extensive legal career spanning 30+ years and has an avid interest in sports like lawn tennis, cricket and golf.
The Supreme Court Collegium stated that every individual is entitled to maintain their own dignity and individuality, based on sexual orientation. Senior Advocate Kirpal’s openness about his orientation goes to his credit and rejecting his candidature on this ground would be contrary to the constitutional principles laid down by the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court Collegium stated that the Intelligence Bureau report noted that nothing came against his integrity who also did not have any overt political leanings, therefore, its adverse comments in respect of posts made by Advocate R. John Sathyan would not impinge on his suitability, character, or integrity.
“Moreover, after the Supreme Court Collegium reiterated the proposal on 01 September 2021, it was not open to the Department to repeatedly send back the same proposal which has been reiterated by the Supreme Court Collegium after duly considering the objections of the Government.” said the Collegium.
The Supreme Court Collegium added that there are no indications of Advocate Somasekhar Sundaresan's links with any political parties with strong ideological leanings and emphasised on the right to free speech and expression under Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution.

In the case at hand, a Right to Information application sought the copies of resolution and decision taken in the Supreme Court Collegium’s meeting dated 12.12.2018 regarding elevation of Chief Justices of Two High Courts. However, the application was rejected as no final decision was taken in the said meeting.
