The President has appointed Gurvinder Pal Singh as an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court under Article 224(1), following the Supreme Court Collegium’s recommendation dated 10 September 2026.

The decision was taken in view of Justice T. Vinod Kumar’s ensuing retirement in November 2026.
If the latest recommendations are approved by the Centre, this will not only bring the number of closer to the sanctioned strength of 38 Judges, but it will also increase the number of women Judges in the Bench.
On 23 September 2026, the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended 11 Additional Judges for appointment as Permanent Judges of the Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Uttarakhand High Courts.

Significantly, three out of the nine new appointee Judges are women advocates whose names were recommended by the SC Collegium in May 2026.

The Collegium recommended appointment of Permanent Judges for High Courts of Punjab & Haryana and Calcutta and term extension for six Additional Judges of Calcutta High Court.
The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on 6 August 2026, recommended the elevation of Justice V. Kameswar Rao, Justice Ravindra V. Ghuge, Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra as Chief Justices of the Patna, Calcutta, Bombay, and Punjab and Haryana High Courts, respectively.
Recommended by Supreme Court Collegium on 27 May 2026, Justice Arun Palli took oath as a Supreme Court Judge along with four other Judges on 2 June 2026.
