Session 2 on Day 1 of Gujarat High Court Arbitration Centre Arbitration Week 2026 examined India’s arbitration journey after the 2015 amendments, with leading judges and practitioners discussing judicial intervention, institutional arbitration, enforcement of awards, specialised arbitration courts, GIFT City as a potential preferred seat and the evolving standards of independence and disclosure under the IBA Guidelines 2024.
At the GHAC Arbitration Week 2026, organized by the Gujarat High Court Arbitration Centre (Domestic & International) and the Gujarat High Court, Former Singapore Supreme Court Judge, Mr. Vijaya Kumar Rajah SC delivered an erudite address providing an overview of not just the global and Indian arbitration landscape but also a guide on how to make a credible arbitration ecosystem.
Justice L. Nageswara Rao, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, highlighted key areas for strengthening India’s arbitration framework at GHAC Arbitration Week 2026, emphasising greater efficiency, institutional arbitration, procedural discipline, capacity building and timely resolution of disputes. He also underscored the need for a diverse and independent pool of arbitrators and a long-term vision to establish India as a leading arbitration destination.
At the inaugural ceremony of GHAC Arbitration Week 2026, Justices V.M. Pancholi and N.V. Anjaria focused on strengthening India’s arbitration ecosystem by building institutional confidence and returning the process to its core values of independence, efficiency, accessibility, party autonomy and settlement.
Experts at Eurasian Arbitration Week 2026 discussed international arbitration, dispute resolution, arbitration reforms, legal certainty, and regional cooperation to strengthen cross-border dispute resolution along the Middle Corridor.
