Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal updates Parliament on Free Legal Aid Services in India, highlighting the role of the National Legal Services Authority established under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.
Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal informed the Parliament about the expansion of legal aid and alternate dispute resolution systems, improved legal aid accessibility in Odisha, and ongoing efforts to support SC/ST communities.

The Division Bench of the Court, while deliberating over the matter, identified 2 major issues- (1) Open Correctional Institutions and (2) Modalities for visitation by lawyers in jail to ensure free legal aid to the deserving prison inmates.
The Supreme Court has issued directions to each State Government to set up a designated Committee, which has its focus on taking steps for setting up new jails, expanding the existing facilities in the jails, and providing facilities to the inmates using technology.
