ABOUT AIKYAM 3.0 — STATE-LEVEL LEGAL AID FEST

The Legal Aid Centre of ILS Law College introduced the Legal Aid Fest in the year 2022 to mark the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The spirit behind the fest is to sensitize the student community on socio-legal happenings in a creative way. The first edition namely Aikyam 1.0, encouraged participation of college students, from all faculties, across Pune district to showcase their talents and create consciousness about the various issues in the society, Aikyam 2.0 themed as ‘Media and Social Change’, was all the grander as participation was open for the students of all faculties across Maharashtra. In pursuance of the same, we are all set to welcome the fest in its third edition at the State level on the theme, Labour Welfare.

BROAD THEME: LABOUR WELFARE IN UNORGANISED SECTOR.

Aikyam 3.0 draws its inspiration from the motto of National Legal Services Authority, (NALSA) न्याय सबके लिए .

The Indian Constitution provides for the promotion and welfare of the labor, for humane conditions of work and securing to all workers leisure, social and cultural opportunities. India has always advocated for inclusive growth and development. The conditions of the labor class in the unorganized sector have been largely unregulated in India yet they are a prime contributor to India’s GDP. However, the primary working standards like minimum wages, working hours, leaves, measures for social security, etc. are unlegislated. This has weakened the position of unorganized labor on the financial front too. As ILS Law College has entered its centenary year in the journey of imparting socially relevant legal education, we take this as an opportunity to create awareness about labor rights and welfare which will help us truly become a वसुधैव कुटुंबकम्
