Supreme Court grants bail to NCP leader Nawab Malik on medical grounds for two months

Supreme Court: In a special leave petition against the Bombay High Court order denying bail to former Maharashtra Minister and National Congress Party MLA Nawab Malik in money laundering case, the division bench of Aniruddha Bose and Bela M. Trivedi, JJ. granted bail for two months to former Maharashtra Minister and NCP MLA Nawab Malik on medical grounds.

In the case at hand, the Directorate of Enforcement (‘ED’) had arrested Nawab Malik on allegations that he had purchased certain property at a rate lower than market value. After taking copgnizance, the Special Court rejected his bail application,

Thereafter, the Special Court refused to grant him bail last year, Nawab Malik approached the Bombay High Court, wherein the High Court also refused him bail. However, owing to his deteriorating health, he has been in custody at a private hospital to ensure continuous medical supervision.
