Rajya Sabha passed the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 on 4-4-2025 which was introduced in Rajya Sabha on 3-4-2025 by Minister of Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju proposing revision of several clauses in the existing Waqf Act, 1995 which governs the administration of waqf properties in India.
The Bill was passed in Rajya Sabha with 128 votes in favour and 95 votes opposing the bill. The bill awaits the assent of the President to become a law.
Earlier, the Bill was tabled in Lok Sabha on 2-4-2025 and passed in on 3-4-2025.
