The Judicial Infrastructure Advisory Committee, constituted by the Chief Justice of India on 12 May 2026 to prepare a roadmap for modernisation of Courts across the country, has submitted its interim report to CJI Surya Kant on 31 August 2026.

Headed by Justice Aravind Kumar, Judge, Supreme Court of India, the Committee comprises Justice Debangsu Basak, Judge, Calcutta High Court, Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra, Acting Chief Justice of Punjab & Haryana High Court, and Justice Somasekhar Sundaresan, Judge, Bombay High Court, as members. Satinder Pal Singh, Director General, CPWD, New Delhi, and Bharat Parashar, Secretary General, Supreme Court of India, are also part of the Committee, with the latter serving as Member Secretary.
The Committee has prepared a blueprint for modernisation of Courts across the country, with the purpose of securing a suitable Government allocation for modernisation and addressing infrastructural deficiencies in Courts through substantial financial support from the Government.
The Committee’s mandate includes identifying infrastructural deficiencies affecting the justice delivery system and recommending the facilities required for judges, court staff, lawyers, litigants and visitors. It has also been tasked with recommending measures for computerisation of Courts under the e-Courts initiative, introducing citizen-centric services to promote inclusive access to justice, and addressing the digital divide.
The Committee has further considered measures for development of modern court complexes and improvement of working conditions of judicial officers and administrative staff, with a view to enhancing the efficiency of the justice delivery system.
The Committee was required to submit its interim report by 31 August 2026 and accordingly submitted the report to the CJI on 31 August 2026.
