Supreme Court Collegium recommends elevation of 4 Judges as Chief Justices of Patna, Calcutta, Bombay and Punjab & Haryana HCs

The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on 6 August 2026, has recommended the elevation of four Judges as Chief Justices of different High Courts. The recommendations concern the Patna, Calcutta, Bombay, and Punjab and Haryana High Courts.

The Collegium has recommended Justice V. Kameswar Rao, presently a Judge of the Delhi High Court, for appointment as Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.

Justice Ravindra V. Ghuge, presently a Judge of the Bombay High Court, has been recommended for appointment as Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court.

Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi, presently a Judge of the Allahabad High Court, has been recommended for appointment as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.

The Collegium has further recommended Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra, whose parent High Court is the Allahabad High Court and who is presently serving as a Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, for elevation as its Chief Justice.
