BRS leader K Kavitha judicial custody April 23

Rouse Avenue Court, Delhi: Kaveri Baweja, Special CBI Judge, ordered for sending Bharat Rashtra Samithi (‘BRS’) legislator K Kavitha, who was arrested in the Delhi excise policy case, to judicial custody till April 23.

K Kavita, who was accused of allegedly paying Rs. 100 Crore to Aam Aadmi Party leaders in return for liquor licences in Delhi, was lodged in Tihar jail following her arrest on March 15 by the Enforcement Directorate (‘ED’). The ED was probing allegations of money laundering in Delhi Excise Policy case and while in judicial custody, K Kavita was also interrogated by the CBI.

Earlier on Friday, the Court sent K Kavita to CBI custody till April 15. The Court said that there was need for a “detailed and sustained interrogation of Kavitha by CBI, keeping in view the number of accused involved in the alleged conspiracy and the nature and modus of commission of the alleged offences.” The Court allowed K Kavitha to have five books with her. The Court also allowed home cooked food, japmala, dresses, mattress, bedsheets, towels and a pillow.

Earlier, the CBI submitted in the Court that Kavitha was not responding to them. Advocate Nitesh Rana, representing K Kavitha argued that the grounds were not sufficient to keep her in custody since she is no longer required for custodial interrogation.
