IAS M. Sivasankar

Supreme Court: The Division Bench of M Sundresh and SVN Bhatti, JJ. extended the interim bail granted to IAS Officer M. Sivasankar, former principal secretary to Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, who was arrested in connection with the LIFE Mission corruption case.

M. Sivasankar is one of the accused in the LIFE Mission money laundering case and was in custody since February 2023 after his arrest by ED. According to the reports, Sivasankar was allegedly involved in financial irregularities during a deal struck between a UAE-based charity called Red Crescent and the Kerala government’s LIFE Mission housing project for the poor.

In August 2023, Sivasankar sought bail on medical grounds for decompression surgery on the spinal cord and post-operative care. The Court had granted him bail, limiting his visits to the hospital and his home and no other place during the period of bail.
