“From 2046 to July 2026”: Bombay HC recalls and corrects earlier adjournment of defamation suit

20-year adjournment

Bombay High Court: While considering corrections to its earlier order, a Single Judge Bench of Jitendra Jain, J., directed that lines 4 and 5 of para 2 of the order dated 28 April 2026 be deleted. The Court further ordered that para 3 be replaced with the direction to list this matter on 15 July 2026 for further consideration.

In the earlier order, the Court had expressly directed that the matter should neither be taken up for the next 20 years, i.e., 2046, nor be given priority on the ground that the petitioners are senior citizens or super senior citizens.

The Court emphasised that the original order dated 28 April 2026 be corrected and the corrected order be uploaded on the website. The Court clarified that in any event, this order be read with the original order dated 28 April 2026.
