Allahabad High Court: While considering a contempt matter against Respondents 2 and 3 for going against the Court’s order in Maranatha Full Gospel Ministries v. State of U.P.1, a man alleged that he was stopped from carrying out Namaz in his private property, the Division Bench of Atul Sreedharan and Siddharth Nandan, JJ., ordered for his 24/7 protection.

In the present case, the owner of the house in which Namaz was being offered had given statement that he was praying at home with his family when the police arrived, took him away, issued a challan, and later, under threat from Arif Pradhan and Mukhtiyar, he was forced to put his thumb impression on a document, by police, which he could not read, as he is illiterate. They allegedly threatened to use bulldozer on his property if he did not speak in their favour, in the Court.

The Court listed the matter on 23 March 2026 and directed that two-armed guards 24/7 should protect the owner of the house. The Court stated that the guards should accompany him wherever he goes and that any incident of violence that would afflict him or his property would be considered the responsibility of the State, on the face of it.
