The 2026 edition of the ICC India Arbitration Conference is set to take place on 31 October 2026 in Mumbai, bringing together leading arbitrators, legal practitioners, in-house counsel and industry stakeholders from India and across the globe for a day of discussions on the most pressing issues and emerging developments in arbitration with a nexus to India.
The Conference will explore the evolving role of India in the global disputes ecosystem, with discussions spanning emerging jurisprudence, procedural innovations, monetary remedies, asset recovery involving digital assets, and ethical standards in international arbitration.
The Conference is designed for professionals and stakeholders engaged with arbitration and dispute resolution and will feature expert-led discussions offering practical perspectives on the current state and future direction of arbitration in India.
Key sessions at the conference
The Conference will commence with Updates from the Secretary-General, ICC International Court of Arbitration, followed by a Special Address.
The first substantive session, “Let’s talk about numbers!: A fireside chat on monetary remedies in arbitration”, will examine the practical challenges involved in quantifying monetary remedies. The discussion will bring together perspectives from arbitral tribunals, experts and counsel, focusing on the importance of getting the numbers right, common pitfalls and practical experiences in dealing with monetary claims.
The Conference will then turn to an increasingly significant area of dispute resolution in Session II: “The road less travelled: Asset recovery in arbitration amid age of digital assets”. As digital assets become more prominent in cross-border finance and investment, the session will examine the challenges surrounding recovery of digital assets through arbitration and the manner in which Indian Courts are addressing issues arising from digital asset recovery in the context of arbitration proceedings.
The third session will take the form of an Oxford-style debate on ethics in international arbitration, centred on the proposition that ethics in international arbitration should be codified to ensure the highest standards and practices of law.
The debate will consider both sides of the proposition: whether codification is necessary to preserve the legitimacy and trust of international arbitration users, or whether existing domestic laws and regulations sufficiently address ethical standards and expectations in international arbitration.
A platform for meaningful dialogue
Beyond the substantive sessions, the Conference will provide opportunities for participants to connect and exchange views during networking breaks, lunch and the concluding networking reception.
The 2026 ICC India Arbitration Conference comes at a time when India’s arbitration landscape continues to engage with new commercial challenges, technological developments and evolving international practices. The discussions are expected to offer valuable insights into how arbitration practitioners, courts and stakeholders can navigate these developments while strengthening India’s position within the global disputes ecosystem.
The Conference will conclude with a with a Vote of Thanks, followed by a Networking Reception, bringing together members of India’s arbitration community and international stakeholders for further discussions and professional interaction.
The ICC India Arbitration Conference 2026 promises a day of thought-provoking discussions, practical insights and meaningful engagement on the future of arbitration in India and its growing significance in the international disputes landscape.
