About the GNLU Student Law Review

The GNLU Student Law Review (GSLR) is the flagship student journal of the Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar. The Review is an annually published, student-edited, double-blind peer-reviewed, online, open-access Law Review. The Law Review focuses primarily on Indian law and encourages comparative law and international law research related to Indian legal developments and challenges. The Law Review also promotes an interdisciplinary approach to research in law, combining allied disciplines with legal analysis. Volume IV of the Law Review can be accessed here. GSLR hereby calls for papers for its Volume V.

Submission Categories

The following categories of submissions will be considered for publication:

  1. Article (4500-8000 words): We expect authors to comprehensively engage with the foundation of the chosen topic, aiming to underline its relevance for present times through legal policy.
  2. Case Note (2500-4500): A Case Note analyses a recent judgment or landmark decision of Indian courts, informing on the background of the matter and substantive implications for future adjudication.

(Word limits, as provided above, are exclusive of footnotes. Authors are advised to adhere to the limits.)

Guidelines for Submission

  1. Authorship: Submissions are welcome from students, practitioners, academics, and scholars. Co-authorship is permissible up to three authors only for the category of ‘Articles’.
  2. Originality: GSLR requests all authors to only submit original research work. Please ensure that every source is properly referenced, and all contributors are cited. The decision of the Editorial Board remains final in all respects.
  3. Abstract and Keywords: The submission must mandatorily contain an abstract of 200-250 words. The author must provide 4-5 keywords as part of the abstract. The manuscript must also contain the essential components of an Introduction, the Body and the Conclusion.
  4. Formatting Guidelines:

    1. The manuscript must be in .doc or .docx format.
    2. The manuscript should not contain the name of the author, institutional affiliation, or any other identification mark.
    3. The body of the manuscript must be in Garamond, font size 12 with line spacing 1.5. The footnotes must be in Garamond, font size 10 with line spacing 1.
    4. The GSLR follows ‘The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (20th ed.)’ format of citation, which the authors are expected to adhere to. Speaking and substantive footnotes are encouraged, however, authors must justify their use.
    5. The submission must not have any endnotes, bibliography, and references. Authors are advised to use only footnotes. A one-line gap must be maintained between all paragraphs and headings.
