SC Collegium recommends elevation of Prashant Kumar Mishra Chief Justice, Andhra Pradesh HC to Supreme Court

Supreme Court: On 16-05-2023, the Supreme Court Collegium headed by CJI Dr. D.Y. Chandrachud, Sanjay Kishan Kaul, K.M. Joseph, Ajay Rastogi, Sanjiv Khanna, JJ., recommended the elevation of Andhra Pradesh Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra to Supreme Court Judge.

The recommendation came in accordance with the available vacancy at the Supreme Court.

The Collegium had carefully evaluated the merit, integrity and competence of eligible Chief Justices and senior puisne Judges of the High Courts and found Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra to be more deserving and suitable for being appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court.

Justice Mishra was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Chhattisgarh on 10-12-2009. He was appointed as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh on 13-10-2021. Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra has served as a Judge of the High Court for over thirteen years and ranks at serial number 21 in the All-India Seniority List of judges of the High Courts.
