GNLU will observe 21 March as the Law Tradition Day to symbolize, manifest and celebrate legal traditions of great legal and judicial system. Hon’ble Ms. Justice Belaben M. Trivedi, Judge, High Court of Gujarat will be inaugurating and delivering the key note address on the 2016 Law Tradition Day.

21st March marks the day when the emergency was lifted after a period of 21 months from 25 June 1975. Every legal system of world have internal traditions. Our Indian legal system which has imbibed mixed legal systems, has derived its inherent traditions from varied sources like common law, civil law and personal laws, forging its legal traditions to be uniquely distinct and remarkably different.

By observing a day, as a Law Tradition Day, GNLU intends to create a dialogue platform for Legal traditions in our legal system and to promote the unique normative cultural traditional legal heritage & inculcate the legal tradition culture among entire legal community, judges, lawyers, law teachers and students alike.
