NLU Jodhpur MoU with Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs

Jodhpur, June 2026: National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ) and Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India come together to establish the ‘Center for Research in Land & Housing: Law, Policy & Governance’ for conducting studies on Real Estate Laws, Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act judgments, and Affordable Housing Policies. The MoU, executed on 30th April 2026 at New Delhi, was signed by Prof. (Dr.) Harpreet Kaur, Vice Chancellor, NLUJ, and Shri Kuldip Narayan, Joint Secretary, MoHUA. Under this partnership, NLUJ will serve as the Regional Center for the Western Region under MoHUA’s national initiative to promote the urban housing eco-system and support India’s ‘Housing for All’ vision under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 and the broader Viksit Bharat @2047 agenda.

The Memorandum of Understanding marks a significant step towards strengthening evidence-based policymaking and legal research in the housing and urban development sector. Pursuant to the MoU, NLUJ will establish the Center for Research in Land & Housing: Law, Policy & Governance at its campus in Jodhpur. The Center will function as a dedicated hub for interdisciplinary research, policy analysis, legal innovation, and stakeholder engagement in the areas of land, housing, and urban governance.
