BCI Announces 24th Qualifying Examination

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has announced the 24th Qualifying Examination for Indian Nationals Holding Foreign Law Degrees. This examination acts as an essential gateway for candidates who have obtained their law degrees from foreign institutions and aspire to practice law in India.

The examination will be conducted from 15 July to 21 July 2026. Each paper will be conducted from 11AM to 02 PM.

  3. The BCI has provided flexibility for candidates who appeared in previous examinations but could not clear one or more subjects. Such candidates are allowed to reappear only in the subjects they have not passed, enabling them to complete the qualification without retaking the entire examination.

  4. Strict regulations have been laid down to ensure fairness and maintain the integrity of the examination:

    • No study material allowed for the first three papers (Constitution, Contract Law, and Company Law).

    • For the remaining papers, only bare acts without notes or markings are permitted.

    • All electronic devices such as mobile phones and smartwatches will be deposited outside the examination hall.

  5. Candidates found in violation of examination guidelines, including possession of prohibited materials, use of unfair means, or communication during the examination, may be subject to appropriate action as determined by the invigilator.

  6. The application timelines are as follows:

    • Last date for submission of application form: 25 June 2026

    • Last date for fee payment: 5 July 2026

  7. Applications will be submitted via email to acadcommitteebci@gmail.com along with scanned copies of the required documents.

  8. The duly filled original application form and supporting documents will also be sent by post to the BCI.

  9. To qualify, candidates must secure a minimum of 45 marks out of 100 in each paper.
