Finance Ministry has notified under Section 10A of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007 that RuPay-powered debit card transactions and UPI payments up to ₹2,000 will remain free from any direct or indirect charges.

The Ministry of Finance has more than doubled the interest rate applicable to the Senior Citizens Welfare Fund from 3.35% to 6.85% for FY 2025—26. The revision, notified on 8 June 2026, directly strengthens the fund’s capacity to support healthcare, financial security and livelihood initiatives for the elderly.
