IILM University, Gurugram Wins the 1st KIIT Inter-University Client Counselling Competition; MNLU, Nagpur Emerges as Runner-Up

KIIT Inter-University Client Counselling Competition 2026

IILM University, Gurugram won the 1st KIIT Inter-University Client Counselling Competition, 2026, organised by the KIIT Legal Services Clinic, KIIT School of Law. MNLU, Nagpur secured the Runner-Up position.

About the Competition

The 1st KIUCCC 2026 was organised by the KIIT Legal Services Clinic, KSOL, KIIT-DU in a hybrid format, with the online preliminary rounds held on 19 September 2026 and the offline rounds held on 27 September 2026 at KIIT School of Law, Bhubaneswar.

The Competition sought to provide law students with a platform to develop practical skills through simulated client-counsel interactions, with emphasis on effective communication, active listening, legal analysis, ethical decision-making and problem-solving. It also aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical legal education and professional practice while fostering empathy, professionalism and integrity among future legal practitioners.

Participants navigated a diverse range of legal issues spanning contractual disputes, constitutional law, criminal laws, consumer protection and cyber crimes.

Winners

The team from IILM University, Gurugram, comprising Vittoria Gautam Pal & Lalchhuansangi Bawitlung, emerged as the Winner of the Competition.

The team from Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, comprising Aadhya Dhagat and Mitarth Lavania, secured the Runner-Up position.

Individual Awards

The Best Counsel Award was conferred upon Shariya Alam of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, and Prachi Singh from KIIT School of Law secured the Best Client Award.

The Valedictory Ceremony was graced by Retd. Hon’ble Justice M.M. Das, Former Judge of the Orissa High Court, as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was also attended by Prof. (Dr.) N.L. Mitra, Professor Emeritus, KSOL; Prof. (Dr.) Raju K.D., Pro-Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU and KSOL; and Dr. Loknath Mohapatra, Director, KIIT Legal Services Clinic.
