A cross-institutional team from DSNLU, JGLS and NLSIU comprising of Abhinandan Adhikari, Rishank Mehrotra, Shalini Kottapalli, Shravya Nargotra, and Vinayak Kedia emerged as the Winner of the South Asia Rounds of the Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot 2026.
The competition was hosted by Lloyd Law College, Noida, from 30 July to 2 August 2026. It brought together 38 teams from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. The South Asia Rounds served as the qualifying rounds for the FDI Moot Global Rounds, which will be held at the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) in Shenzhen, China. The Top 10 teams from the regional rounds qualified for the global stage.
In the Final Round, the team, with Rishank Mehrotra and Vinayak Kedia appearing as the Oralists, argued against Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, before an eminent arbitral tribunal comprising Hon’ble Justice Tejas Karia of the Delhi High Court, Mr. Umasankar Yedla, Mr. Sameer Jain, Mr. Kapil Arora, and Ms. Iram Majid. The tribunal’s incisive questions, practical insights, and thoughtful engagement with the legal issues tested the teams beyond their prepared submissions and made the final round an especially enriching experience.
At the Valedictory Ceremony, the team was felicitated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Judge, Supreme Court of India, along with Ms. Anju Rathi Rana and other distinguished members of the International Law Commission (ILC). The felicitation marked the successful culmination of the South Asia Rounds and recognised the team’s outstanding performance throughout the competition.
