SCC Online has introduced the Advocates Directory under its Professionals Directory feature, providing a structured and verified repository of professional information relating to advocates registered on the platform.
Advocates Directory is designed to facilitate access to factual and verifiable professional information, including court appearances reflected in reported judgments available on the SCC Online database. The feature enables registered advocates to maintain professional profiles containing information permissible under applicable regulatory requirements, while retaining control over the information they choose to make available.
A Verified Professional Information
Advocates Directory allows registered advocates to create and maintain professional profiles that includes:
-
Name and enrolment details
-
Educational and professional qualifications
-
Courts of practice
-
Areas of practice
-
Contact information (where the advocate elects to disclose such information)
-
References to reported judgments in which the advocate’s appearance is recorded
The directory is intended as a professional information repository. This allows for other advocates, general counsel and law firms to connect with the listed advocates.
Registration Process
Advocates registered on SCC Online may access the Advocates Directory through their user dashboard and complete a verification process by providing relevant professional information and Bar Council credentials.
How the Registration Process Works
The registration process has been integrated directly into the SCC Online user dashboard. Advocates can begin by logging into their SCC Online account through SCC Online Official Website. Users without an account are required to subscribe before accessing the feature. After logging in, users can navigate to:
Dashboard → Settings → My Account → Directory Listing
Within the Advocate’s Section of the Professionals Directory, users are required to complete a consent-based registration form. The registration process includes:
-
Filling in professional details
-
Selecting primary city of practice
-
Choosing up to three courts of practice
-
Selecting up to five areas of specialization
-
Uploading a photograph (optional)
-
Providing Bar Council registration details
-
Uploading a Bar Council Certificate or ID Card (to ensure that the account is verifiable)
Advocates can also decide which personal details such as phone number, email address, or office address should be visible publicly on their profile. Profiles are published only after verification and the advocate’s consent.
Following submission, first-time registrations may take up to 14 days for verification and profile activation.
References to Reported Judgments
Following verification, advocates may associate their profiles with reported judgments available on the SCC Online database in which their appearances are recorded.
Advocate’s name appearing in a reported judgment may be linked to the advocate’s profile. Such references are intended to facilitate access to publicly available legal records and professional information.
Advocates may request updates to their profiles to include additional reported judgments in which their appearances are reflected.
The information is collected, stored and disseminated in compliance with the Data Protection Act, 2023__ and the Data Protection Rules, 2025_____.

Search and Retrieval of Professional Information
The Advocates Directory includes search functionality that enables users to retrieve professional information. Accessible through the “More” section on the SCC Online dashboard, the directory enables searches based on:
-
City
-
Court
-
Area of practice
Search results are generated based on the information provided and verified through the registration process.

For example, a user searching for an advocate practicing in New Delhi, appearing before the Supreme Court, and specializing in Arbitration can filter results accordingly and access a list of matching professionals
