Supreme Court Collegium recommends appointment of 9 Advocates as Calcutta HC Judges

On 11/12 May 2026, the Supreme Court Collegium led by CJI Surya Kant, recommended the appointment of 9 advocates as Judges of Calcutta High Court. The recommended names are as follows:

3. Atarup Banerjee

4. Sandip Kumar De,

5. Partha Pratim Roy

6. Sudip Deb

7. Anuj Singh,

8. Arjun Ray Mukherjee

9. Rishad Medora

As of 1 May 2026, Calcutta High Court has 30 vacancies and its working strength is 42 Judges as against the sanctioned judges’ strength of 72¹.
