ABOUT THE COMPETITION

The Legal Aid Centre established at the Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow, Lucknow is thrilled to announce that it is organising an Online Extempore Competition on 5th March, 2024 on the theme “SHEvolution: Empowering Women, Empowering Humanity” under the celebration of International Women’s Day Fiesta 2024.

The Extempore Competition will serve as a platform for participants to showcase their spontaneous speaking skills while celebrating the spirit and achievements of women. This competition holds immense importance as it encourages individuals to voice their thoughts and perspectives on issues that are crucial for advancing gender equality and women’s rights.

SUGGESTIVE TOPICS

• The rise of women is not about the fall of men.

• Gender balance is not solely a women’s issue but also an economic issue.

• Biased behaviour and less opportunities in the field of sports for women, a reality or hoax.

• How does work life imbalance affect a woman’s life?

• Importance of valuing and empowering women.

Note: The topics given here are only for reference, topics to each participant will be given randomly, preserving the spirit of extempore.

ELIGIBILITY

Students enrolled in any undergraduate or postgraduate course from a recognised University, Research Scholars and Academicians can participate in the competition.

RULES FOR COMPETITION

• It will be an open competition for all the students of any recognised University/College/Institution of India.

• It will be on an online platform.

• Organisers will provide the topic 7 minutes prior to the competition on WhatsApp groups.

• Each contestant will be given 2-4 minutes for presenting their view on the topic.

• Two bells will be ringing indicating the time of speaking, one at 2 minutes and other at 4 minutes.

• Exceeding the time limit will result in negative marking.

• Contestants must switch on their video while speaking.

• Marking criteria includes:

  1. Clarity of Thoughts

  2. Speaking skills

  3. Knowledge of Facts

  4. Way of Presentation

• The decision of the panel of judges and the organising committee regarding evaluation will be final and binding.

• Decency must be maintained and no unethical conduct will be tolerated.

• Suggestive topics are only for reference and topics can be random.

• List of topics will be provided 10 minutes prior to the competition, however keeping the nature of extempore in mind, topics given to each individual will be random.

• Participants will be given e-certificate.
