Karnataka high court chief justice Justice NV Anjaria

On 07-02-2024, the Supreme Court Collegium comprising of Dr Justice DY Chandrachud, the Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice B.R. Gavai recommended the name of Justice NV Anjaria as the next Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court.

Justice PS Dinesh Kumar, who was appointed as Chief Justice of the High Court on 31-01-2024, is due to retire on 24-02-2024. Therefore, to fill the future vacancy, the Collegium made the afore-stated recommendation.

Justice NV Anjaria was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Gujarat on 21-11-2011 and has been functioning there since then. Before his elevation as a Judge of the High Court, he practised in the High Court of Gujarat in civil, constitutional, company law, labour and service matters and specialized in civil and constitutional cases.

The Collegium stated that Justice Anjaria is a competent Judge with a sound knowledge of law and possesses impeccable integrity. It was pointed out that Justice Anjaria has maintained the standard required of a person holding a high judicial office.
