Aequitas 2024

About institution- Since its inception in year 2006, PUSSGRC, Hsp has always been instrumental in providing “Qualitative Education” to its students who come to the centre not just from the region but also from other states of the country. Infact, a large number of students come from all across the nation to PUSSGRC for their academic pursuits. We promote the feelings of Cultural Pluralism and students are acquainted not just with academic knowledge but feelings of communal harmony and cultural pluralism are also imbued amongst them.

Thus, as an institution we aim to educate our students not just with the technical knowledge of their respective subjects but also try to root them to their spiritual roots – the traditions, the ethics , the morality and value-based life.

About fest- Continuing to the tradition Panjab University Swami Sarvanad Giri Regional Centre Hoshiarpur is organising a Law and Cultural Fest:- Aequitas 2024 from 15 Feburary, 2024 to 17 Feburary, 2024. The aim of the event is to promote culture and practical legal skills among students for their overall development and encourages their participation in other extra-curricular activities apart from their regular course. It gives an opportunity to the students to develop academic skills and to showcase their talent.

Events- The following events and their respective information is given below.

1. National Moot Court Competition:-

Eligibility-

Only ONE TEAM is allowed per institution.

Each team shall consist of maximum 3 members (2 mooters and 1 researcher) or (2 mooters). Once the competition commences, the team composition cannot be altered. However, under certain circumstances if any alteration is necessitated, it should be brought in notice of the OC. Students of the host institution will NOT be allowed to participate. The soft copies of memorial shall be sent in .pdf and .docs format to the email: mootcourt.aequitas2k24@gmail.com by 31st January, 2024.

For every 4 hours of delay in soft copies of memorial 2 marks will be deducted. Teams are requested to send 2 hard copies [the envelope should the Team Code written on it] of each side (Prosecution & Defense) by 1st February, 2024.

Registration fee-

Registration Fee: Rs. 3500/- (Accommodation and Food Charges are excluded) Each team is required to e-mail the scanned copy of their duly filled in Registration form & Travel form (if applicable) along with the payment receipt to reg.aequitas24@gmail.com. Subject of the mail should bear Registration Form for NATIONAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION, AEQUITAS’24.

Prizes-

Best Team: Worth Rs. 40,000/-

Best Memorial: Worth Rs. 5,000/-

Runner Up: Worth Rs. 15,000/-

Best Mooter: Worth Rs. 5,000/-

Best Researcher: Worth Rs. 5000/

2. National Client Counseling Competition:-

Eligibility-

The Competition is open for students pursuing three / five year LL.B./BALLB Degree Course from recognized Law College/University in India, subject to fulfillment of the registration formalities. Teams from host institute are NOT allowed. Maximum 2 teams from a single institution can register for this competition. Participants registering for Client Counseling will not be allowed to take part in Moot Court and vice versa.

Registration fee-

Registration Fee: Rs. 2,000/- (Accommodation and Food charges excluded) Each team is required to e-mail the scanned copy of their duly filled in Registration form & Travel form (if applicable) along with the payment receipt-reg.aequitas24@gmail.com. Subject of the mail should bear Registration Form for NATIONAL CLIENT COUNSELING COMPETITION, AEQUITAS’24. The Registration is open to 20 teams only on First-cum-First-Serve basis.

Prizes-

Best Team-Worth Rs. 21,000/- & Certificate of Merit.

Runners up-Worth Rs. 11,000/- & Certificate of Merit.

Best Counselor- Worth Rs. 3,500/- & Certificate of Merit.

Best Client- Worth Rs.1,000/- & Certificate of Merit.

3. National Judgement Writing Competition:-

Eligibility-

The participant should be currently pursuing their Bachelor’s Degree in law i.e. 3-Year LL.B. course or 5-Year BA LL.B. course from any recognized institute. Participants from the host college are also ALLOWED.

Registration fee-

No upper limit on the number of registrations. There can be multiple registrations from one college/department/institution. This is an individual or team (2 persons) participation competition.

Registration Fee: Rs. 600/- (Individual)

Rs. 1000/- (2 persons)

Prizes-

Winner: Worth Rs. 3,100/- + Trophy + Certificates

Runner Up: Worth Rs. 1,100/- + Trophy + Certificates (In case, more than one participant is securing same marks, both of them will be rewarded with full cash prize)

4. INQUIZITIVE 3.0 (GENERAL QUIZ):-

Eligibility-

Each institution can send a maximum of 4 teams of two participants each.Registration is open for first 50 teams only on first come first serve basis.

Registration fee-

Rs. 1000/- per team

Prizes-

First Prize: – Worth Rs. 11,000/- Certificate and Trophy.

Second Prize: – Worth Rs. 5,000/- Certificate and Trophy.

Third Prize: – Certificate and Trophy.

5. PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE:-

Registration fee-

Registration fee is Rs. 1000/- (inclusive of Delegate Kit, and Entry to Cultural Night)

Prizes-

1st Team – Worth Rs. 5,000/-

2nd Team- Worth Rs. 3,000/-

Best Speaker- Worth Rs. 1500/-

6. PRACHAND (Theatre events):-

Eligibility-

It will include nukkad natak, mono-acting, play, skit, bhand, acting, mimicry, mime, etc.

(Students from Host Institute are ALLOWED to participate)

Registration free-

Fees: Rs 200/- per head and Rs. 2300/- (per team) if members exceeds 10. Registration Form will be available on Aequitas website.

Prizes-

1st prize—— Worth Rs 15,000/-

2nd prize—— Worth Rs 8,000/-

7.ELEGANT EUPHORIA (FASHION SHOW):-

Theme: Cultural Fusion and Recycle the Waste.

Eligibility-

(Students from Host Institute are ALLOWED to participate)

Team Members: 8-16 persons.

Registration fee-

Rs 200 /- (per head).

Prizes-

1st prize—— Worth Rs 15,000/-

2nd prize—— Worth Rs 7,000/-

8. GROUP DANCE BATTLE:-

Eligibility-

(Students from Host Institute are ALLOWED to participate)

Team Members: 8 persons.

Registration fee-

Rs 200/- per head

2nd prize—— Worth Rs 7,000/-

9. TALENT FIESTA (TALENT HUNT):-

Eligibility-

(Students from Host Institute are ALLOWED to participate)

Rs.800/-(group)

1st prize (Best Entertainer)- Worth Rs 15,000/-

2nd prize (Runner up)- Worth Rs 8,000/-

Special Mentions & Goodies for Best Performers in individual categories.

Aequitas proposes to provide a platform for budding lawyers to hone their skills by challenging their vigor in a plethora of events like Moots, Client Counseling, Judgment Writing, Quiz, Parliamentary Debate. Strenuous days will then transpose into a saga of zealous events where ingenious competing teams will have their eyes set on cash prizes worth up to Rs. 3 lacs. Putting gobstoppers on top, we have invited renowned personalities from legal fraternity and Broadway to brace and reinvigorate our participants and fellow spectators.

Dates- The fest is scheduled to be held from 15th to 17th February, 2023, spanning between 3 days. The schedule, registration process and contact details of the event heads are mentioned in the brochure which has been attested herewith.
