The School of Law at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), is dedicated to achieving both academic excellence and holistic development. It gives the students an all-around legal education focusing on interdisciplinary research and co-curricular activities. The School aims at aiding students to not only excel in their careers and contribute meaningfully to the legal profession and society as a whole.
About the 1st National Essay Writing Competition 2023-24
Keeping in tune with our dynamic environment, the Air and Space Law Committee of the School of Law brings forth the 1st National Essay Writing Competition on Air and Space Law, along with the Indian Journal of Law and Public Policy, along with EBC and SCC Online being our Exclusive Media Partner. This competition aims to hone students’ critical thinking skills by allowing them to showcase their legal writing skills on Aviation and Space Law themes.

Note: These themes are not exhaustive. They are merely suggestive in nature. Any other theme that incorporates the fields of Aviation Law and Space Law will be considered for the competition.
Eligibility
Submissions shall be accepted from students/research scholars enrolled in a law undergraduate/post-graduate/PhD course at any recognised university in India.
Prizes

The top 3 submissions will each be awarded a cash prize.

The top 5 submissions will be published in the Indian Journal of Law and Public Policy (IJLPP), bearing ISSN 2394-2657. IJLPP is a blind, peer-reviewed, bi-annual law and public policy publication.

One submission by a Research Scholar may be considered for publication in UGC-Indexed CHRIST University Law Journal (CULJ) [Jan-Jun 2024].
Note: For submissions to be published in the journals, the submissions will be subject to modification once selected.

The registration fee for Single Authorship is Rs. 400-/, and for Co-Authorship (upto two authors) is Rs. 700-/.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions shall be between 1500 — 2500 words long.

Co-authorship is permitted up to a maximum of 2 authors.
-
All submissions must relate substantially or materially to the themes prescribed for the competition and shall be in English only.
-
The maximum similarity index of a submission must not exceed 10%.
-
All essays will go through a plagiarism check and AI check, and the detection of plagiarism or AI writing will lead to immediate disqualification.

The essay must not contain any reference to the identity of the author, including their name, institutional affiliation, or any other information by which they may be identified. However, all such details shall be filled in the google form.

The submission sent for this competition must be original, unpublished and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere, either online or in print.

All submissions must be in Times New Roman, font size 12 and with 1.5 line spacing.

Headings must be formatted in Times New Roman, font size 14, with 1.5 line spacing and must be bolded.

Subheadings must be formatted in Times New Roman, font size 14, with 1.5 line spacing and must be underlined in Small Caps.

All submissions made shall conform to Bluebook 20th edition citation standards.

All submissions must be made only as a Microsoft Word Document (.doc/.docx). The name of the document shall be the title of the submission.

By submitting the article, the author(s) forfeit their copyright over their manuscript in favour of the organisers.
