sc collegium transfer of high court judges

The Supreme Court Collegium comprising of Chief Justice of India, Dr DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice BR Gavai and Justice Surya Kant on 11-08-2023 resolved to transfer Justice Sudhir Singh, currently Judge of Patna High Court to Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The recommendation was made after the Collegium consulted the Judges of the Supreme Court who, being conversant with the affairs of the High Court of Judicature at Patna, were in a position to offer views on the proposed transfer. The Collegium also consulted the Chief Justices of the High Court of Judicature at Patna and High Court of Punjab and Haryana.

The proposal to transfer Justice Sudhir Singh was made on 03-08-2023, however the proposal was deferred owing to request made by the Judge that before taking a final decision regarding his transfer to the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, the facts submitted by him in his letter may be considered.

After duly considering Justice Sudhir Singh’s submissions, the Collegium on 11-08-2023, reiterated their proposal to transfer him to Punjab and Haryana High Court.
