The International Arbitration and Mediation Centre (IAMC) Hyderabad has come up with another great event, wherein the participants will learn as to how they can pave their way for a career in international arbitration from global experts.

A virtual fireside chat will be organized on “Crafting Your Path to a Successful Career in Arbitration: Insights from Top Professionals,” on August 4, 2023, from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM (IST).

The Fireside Chat will cover a roadmap to practise as an arbitration lawyer/arbitrator in jurisdictions like the UK, USA, UAE and others. Insights regarding pursuing a Master’s or Doctorate from world-renowned universities like Harvard, Yale, Cambridge, Oxford and others will also be provided during the session. The event will be followed by a Q&A Session wherein you can clarify your doubts from the experts.

A brief profile of the esteemed panellists for the session

  1. Dr Chintan Chandrachud is a Barrister at Brick Court Chambers, in London, United Kingdom. He pursued his Bachelor’s in Law from GLC Mumbai and thereafter went on to pursue his Bachelor in Civil Law from University of Oxford. Dr. Chandrachud also completed his MPhil in Law from the University of Oxford, and his LLM from Yale Law School while he earned his PhD in Law from the University of Cambridge. His plethora of knowledge and expertise has made him a top player in the areas of both litigation and arbitration.

  2. Mr Bhushan Satish is a Law Clerk at Willkie Farr & Gallagher, New York, USA. He completed his LLM from Harvard Law School. He also pursued the Geneva LL.M. in International Dispute Settlement (MIDS) as a Hans Wilsdorf Scholar, where he graduated with top honours. Mr Satish has studied and practiced law multiple jurisdictions like in the US, Korea, Switzerland, India, UK and France, garnering a vast amount of experience and expertise in such jurisdictions.

  3. Ms Shanelle Irani is working in the capacity of a Senior Associate in the Litigation/Controversy Department at WilmerHale, London, United Kingdom. She is also a member of the International Arbitration Practice Group. She completed her Bachelor’s from GLC Mumbai and her Master’s from Georgetown University Law Centre.

  4. Mr Shouvik Bhattacharya is working as a Senior Associate at King & Spalding in London, United Kingdom. Mr Bhattacharya maintains a broad international disputes practice, with a focus on complex and high-stakes international arbitrations. His cases are cited in both common law and civil law jurisdictions, and he has broad familiarity with the various institutional and ad hoc rules (including AAA, HKIAC, ICC, ICDR, LCIA, SIAC, SCC, UNCITRAL). He has represented clients before the European Court of Human Rights and has advised on cases before the Court of Justice of the European Union. Mr. Bhattacharya regularly teaches and speaks about arbitration, including at Harvard Law School, the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences and the National Law University, Delhi. He graduated from Yale Law School and clerked for the Hon. Lorna G. Schofield (S.D.N.Y.).

  5. Mr Arun Visweswaran is a Senior Associate in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice of Clifford Chance LLP, Dubai, UAE and co-lead the Middle East technology practice for Clifford Chance. His key practice areas are international arbitration (including construction arbitration), commercial/financial litigation, regulatory investigations, cyber security and data protection. He pursued his Bachelor’s in Engineering in Electronics & Communications from Anna University, Chennai, India, and his Bachelor’s in Law from King’s College, London, United Kingdom.

Mr Tariq Khan, Registrar, IAMC Hyderabad, will moderate the session.
