Madhyastham UPES ADR Fest'23
It gives us immense joy to announce that ADR Association of School of Law, UPES Dehradun is organizing ‘Madhyastham’ – ADR Fest 2023 in collaboration with IAMC Hyderabad, in partnership with SCC Online and EBC as an exclusive ‘Media Partner’. The competition is scheduled to take place from August 25th – 26th in online mode and September 15th – 16th in offline mode.

 

The School of Law, a wing of UPES, envisions an assemblage of specialist legal professionals, equipped to contribute to an increasingly diverse field wherein courses involve Energy Law, Corporate Law, Cyberlaw, Banking, Finances, Disruptive Technology, and Intellectual Property Rights specialization. The Alternate Dispute Resolution Association of School of Law, UPES was constituted with the purpose to facilitate and promote alternate dispute resolution mechanisms and develop and enhance skills required in Arbitration, Mediation, and Negotiation. The Association has been effortlessly working towards raising community and campus awareness and constantly providing a platform for alternate dispute resolution tournaments all over India.

 

The fest is being conducted with the aim of making the student fraternity accustomed to resolving disputes efficiently and understanding the benefits of the ADR mechanisms.

 

About Madhyastham

Under the aegis of the ADR fest, two national-level competitions will be organized for Negotiation and Mediation – the 3rd National Negotiation Competition and the 5th National Mediation Competition. The preliminary and quarter-final rounds for both competitions will be held in online mode from the 25th to 26th of August and the semi-final and final rounds will be held from 15th to 16th of September in an offline mode.

 

The competitions promise to serve as a premier stage to recognize and portray the practical skills of Negotiation and Mediation of participants from various law schools across the country. With collaborations with prominent law firms and chambers in India and the best of the best of those in the profession in India, UPES Dehradun, through this Competition promises to provide a glorious experience.

25th to 26th August in online mode

15th to 16th September in offline mode

 

Eligibility

  1. The registration is restricted to 32 teams each for the 3rd National Negotiation Competition and 5th National Mediation Competition.
  2. Each participant must be a current undergraduate student (5-year or 3-year course) at their respective institution. In exceptional circumstances, the organizing committee may grant eligibility to institutions with degree programs in international relations, provided that adequate instructions in international law will be available to all members of the team.

 

Team Composition

For the 3rd National Negotiation Competition

Each participating team shall comprise two members:

  • One Client
  • One Counsel

 

For the 5th National Mediation Competition

Each participating team shall comprise three members:

  • One neutral Mediator
  • One Client
  • One Counsel

Registration Procedure

Any Interested team across the world can register for this Competition.

 

There is a two-step registration process for the competition, the Provisional Registration and the Final Registration. To participate in the Competition, teams must complete the registration process by submitting the Registration Form. The deadline for fulfilling all registration requirements is July 25th, 2023.

 

Upon the completion and verification of all registration formalities, the Organizing Committee will inform teams about the confirmation of their registration. Each team will also be assigned a unique Team Code upon registration confirmation.

 

Registration Fee:

A Registration Fee of INR 6000 (inclusive of 18% GST) is applicable for the Mediation Competition, and INR 5000 (inclusive of 18% GST) for the Negotiation Competition. All teams are required to pay the Registration Fee, which is mandatory. Please note that once the Registration or Accommodation fee is received by the Organizing Committee, it becomes non-refundable under any circumstances.
