Supreme Court Collegium recommends transfer of 3 High Court Judges

The Resolution dated 12-07-2023 is a reiteration of the Collegium’s proposal dated 05-7-2023 wherein they had recommended transfer of Justice Manoj Bajaj, Justice D.K. Singh and Justice Gaurang Kanth.

The Supreme Court Collegium comprising of Chief Justice Dr D.Y. Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice Surya Kant, in its Resolution dated 12-07-2023¹, recommended the transfer of the following High Court Judges-

Justice Manoj Bajaj	Punjab and Haryana High Court	Allahabad High Court
Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh	Allahabad High Court	Kerala High Court
Justice Gaurang Kanth	Delhi High Court	Calcutta High Court

Transfer of the abovementioned Judges had already been proposed by the Collegium in its Resolution dated 05-07-2023; however, Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh² and Justice Gaurang Kanth³ made requested the Collegium to transfer them to nearby High Courts, whereas Justice Manoj Bajaj⁴ had requested the Collegium to allow him to continue to function at Punjab & Haryana High Court.

Upon due consultations and considerations, the Collegium did not find merit in the afore-stated requests and reiterated its proposal dated. 05-07-2023.
