About Army Institute of Law:

The Army Institute of Law (AIL) was established in July 1999 by the Indian Army under the aegis of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) at its interim location at Patiala. In July 2003, the Institute shifted to Sector 68, Mohali. On December 1, 2003, the Mohali Campus was inaugurated by H.E. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the then President of India.

The Institute is affiliated to the Punjabi University, Patiala and approved by the Bar Council of India. With ‘Aspire & Achieve’ as its motto, the Institute has grown as a Centre of Excellence in the field of legal education. AIL has a magnificent residential campus in an impressive architectural structure in the vicinity of Chandigarh and Punjab & Haryana High Court. It conducts a five year BA.LLB and a one year LL.M course.

About the Moot:

 

The Surana & Surana and Army Institute of Law National Family Law Moot Court Competition has been conceived with the aim to create awareness on Family Law in a systematic / scientific manner and train participants for effective practice and to facilitate the evolution of Family Law through the jurisprudential analysis of the existing law and consequential emergence of new laws besides developing cutting edge skills in research,

writing and advocacy.

Eligibility:

Participation is open for bona-fide students who are either pursuing 3-year L.L.B. course or the 5-year integrated law course during the current academic year. Each team should consist of a minimum of 2 and maximum of 3 members. This number cannot be modified under any circumstances. There shall be 2 speakers and 1 researcher designated for each team.

Rounds:

 

  • There shall be an orientation program for all participants on 10th March 2022

Preliminary Rounds – 10th March/11th March 2022

  • Octa/Quarter Round – 11th March 2022

Semi and Final Rounds – 12th March 2022

All rounds will take place virtually via Google Meet platform. Results will be announced 30 minutes after competition of respective rounds.

Registration Details:

Online registrations are open from 10th February 2022. The teams must register online by 23rd February 2022. Teams will have to register online at  http://www.moot.in/ .

Only 28 teams (maximum up to 32 teams) teams will be registered to participate in the competition on first-come-first serve basis. Participants will receive an automated system generated acknowledgement on successful submission of registration. Participants will receive an approval as acceptance of their request for participation latest by 24th February 2022 or earlier. Please refer to the rulebook for further details on the registration process.
