The Legal Aid Committee of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow is proud to announce the fourth edition of the RMLNLU National Mediation Competition to be held from 19th-21st January, 2018. 

The RMLNLU National Mediation competition is a unique initiative that aims to upskill budding lawyers in Mediation, one of the widely followed techniques of alternate dispute resolution.  

The previous edition of the competition was a huge success garnering participation of about 40 teams from all across India. The competition also became a medium to impart concrete knowledge in the field of mediation through orientation and mock sessions by stalwarts in the field. 

This year’s competition is being organized in collaboration with ‘Peacekeeping And Conflict Resolution Team’ (PACT)an organisation formed under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882 dedicated towards ADR. It shall be the Chief Advising Organizer of IV RMLNLU National Mediation Competition and shall empower the young generation of lawyers in the concept of consensual dispute resolution through orientations.  

General Guidelines 

The competition is limited to undergraduate law students only. 

team shall comprise of two members each, who will play the roles of client and mediator. 

The Competition will comprise two preliminary rounds followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals and final round. Top two clients and counsels will qualify to the final round.

Last date for requesting Invitations: 23rd October, 2017 

Tournament dates: 19th-21st January, 2018. 

Registration procedure  

Participation in the competition is through invitation only. Any university/college/institute may request an invite by sending us an email at rmlnlu.mediation@gmail.com 

While allotting slots to Universities, preference shall be towards the invited teams, while the teams that apply to the organising committee will be wait-listed until slots are available. 

Registration Fees : Registration Fees per team is INR 4000, inclusive of accommodation and food. 

Awards and Prizes: The participants qualifying for the following titles shall be felicitated with trophies and cash prizes worth INR 50,000: 

  • Best mediator  

  • Runner-up mediator  

  • Best client  

  • Runner-up client  

  • Best team  

The semi-finalists shall also go enriched with resources in the field of ADR. 

Accommodation and Food: Accommodation shall be provided to all the teams from the evening of 18th January to the afternoon of 22nd January. Food will be served on the competition dates i.e. from 19th-21st January only.
