Pursuant to the directives of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Lucknow, and the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), the Pro Bono Club in collaboration with the Legal Aid Centre established at the Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow is honoured to host a salient webinar on the “DAWN (Drug Awareness and Wellness Navigation — For a Drug-Free India) Scheme, 2025.”
Organized to commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, this event is a significant initiative aimed at taking cognizance of substance abuse, promoting preventive strategies, and encouraging collective action towards building a healthier and drug-free society.
About the Organisers
The Pro Bono Club established at the Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow in 2023 works under the aegis of the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India. It aims to promote and facilitate Nyaya Bandhu (Pro Bono Club Scheme) Programme in India. It encourages lawyers, law firms, and law students to engage in pro bono work and contribute to the access to justice for marginalised and underprivileged sections of society.
The Legal Aid Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow, working under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority, promotes “Equal Access to Justice for All.” Guided by Articles 14 and 39A, it seeks to create socially responsible citizens, provide free legal services and legal literacy to marginalized groups, thereby bridging the gap caused by poverty and illiteracy. The Centre conducts awareness programs on issues like sexual harrasment of women at workplace, child safety, cyber security, and gender equality through workshops, village and jail visits, and Lok Adalat participation, while giving students practical experience in community service.
About the Speaker
We are honoured to host Dr. Kumar Askand Pandey, Associate Professor at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow. A distinguished academic and noted scholar in criminal law, Dr. Pandey has authored several publications and has contributed extensively to legal education, criminal justice studies, and policy discourse. His expertise and experience make him uniquely positioned to provide valuable perspectives on issues relating to drug awareness, prevention, and societal well-being.
