The Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow, organized a significant Mental Health Awareness Program under the banner of Mission Shakti 2025, a flagship initiative of the Government of Uttar Pradesh dedicated to women’s safety, empowerment, and holistic development. As part of its broader mandate, Mission Shakti 2025 encourages educational institutions to create safe, supportive spaces that promote emotional wellbeing, awareness, and resilience. In alignment with this vision, the Faculty of Law hosted a thematic session titled “Aspirations vs Anxieties — Learning the Skill of Life.”
Held under the esteemed guidance of Prof. Manuka Khanna, Vice Chancellor and Patron, and Prof. (Dr.) R. K. Verma, Head & Dean, Faculty of Law, the program aimed to address the rising mental health challenges faced by students navigating competitive academic spaces, personal aspirations, and societal expectations. The event commenced at 1:00 PM in LT-01 and witnessed an encouraging turnout from faculty members, research scholars, and students, all committed to engaging with the essential discourse on mental wellbeing.
The highlight of the afternoon was the Keynote Address by Prof. (Dr.) Sristi Srivastava from the Department of Psychology, Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Lucknow. Prof. Sristi delivered a thought-provoking and empathetic lecture that explored diverse dimensions of mental health. She detailed the transformative role of communication, confidence-building, and interpersonal connection in shaping psychological resilience. Emphasizing the importance of eliminating social stigma, she encouraged students to embrace open conversations and seek help without hesitation, framing mental health care as a collective and compassionate responsibility.
Further enriching the program, Dr. Niharika presented an illuminating session on “Five Key Ways to Tackle Mental Health Situations.” Her presentation outlined essential strategies such as cultivating self-awareness, practicing emotional regulation, encouraging peer support systems, accessing professional mental health services, and maintaining a balanced routine. These insights offered the audience practical tools to navigate the stresses and uncertainties inherent in academic and personal life.
The session concluded with thoughtful closing remarks by Dr. Richa Saxena, Faculty Coordinator of Mission Shakti, who reiterated the University’s commitment to nurturing emotionally strong, confident, and socially responsible individuals.
