Delhi Car Blast

In an official press release on 11-11-2025, Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, Justice B.R. Gavai, along with the Companion Judges of the Supreme Court, conveyed their grief over the tragic car blast that occurred in Delhi on the evening of 10-11-2025.

‘On behalf of the Supreme Court of India and the entire judicial as well as legal fraternity in the country, I convey our deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in this devastating tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who are grieving, as well as with those who are injured or otherwise affected,’ said CJI.

As per media reports, the blast claimed multiple lives and left many injured, prompting widespread grief and national concern. A car exploded near the Red Fort Metro Station with devastating force damaging nearby vehicles and structures. The incident killed around 8-12 people and injuring over 20 others. Authorities have launched a high-level investigation, invoked anti-terror laws and deployed forensic teams to examine the blast site. The incident has triggered heightened security alerts across the capital.

The press note reflects the gravity of the incident and the judiciary’s role in times of crisis. The Chief Justice conveyed the institution’s enduring commitment to justice and dignity with the following statement:

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved, in this moment of grief, the judiciary remains steadfast in its commitment to uphold the rule of law, ensure justice, and safeguard the dignity of every citizen.

Chief Justice concluded a solemn tribute:

‘May the departed souls rest in eternal peace. May courage and solace reach the bereaved families and all those who mourn this irreparable loss.’
