Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad (SLS-H), known for its commitment to fostering experiential and career-oriented legal education, recently organized a two-hour interactive Workshop on “Basics of Intellectual Property Rights.” The session aimed to introduce students to the fundamental concepts of Intellectual Property Law and its growing relevance in today’s innovation-driven global economy.
The workshop provided an in-depth overview of the various forms of Intellectual Property, including Trademarks, Patents, Copyrights, and Geographical Indications, and explored how these legal mechanisms safeguard creativity, encourage innovation, and contribute to economic development. Students were also exposed to the procedural and practical aspects of filing, enforcement, and dispute resolution related to IPR.
The session was led by eminent resource persons:
Mr. K. Shravan Kumar Yadav, Senior Associate, Juris Prime Law Services, and
Ms. Vishala Ande, Chairperson & Founder, VissLaw Chambers
both of whom brought extensive experience and industry insight to the discussion.The experts shared valuable real-world perspectives on the application of Intellectual Property laws, drawing from their professional journeys. They emphasized how the field of IPR is evolving with technological advancement and globalization, and encouraged students to explore emerging opportunities in IP litigation, corporate advisory, patent analysis, and IP management.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, where students discussed current issues and trends in IPR, such as the challenges of digital piracy, artificial intelligence and authorship, and the global harmonization of IP rights.
This workshop served as an enriching platform for students to gain practical exposure, clarify conceptual understanding, and identify potential career pathways in the dynamic field of Intellectual Property Rights.
