Govt. Retains 7.1% Interest Rate on Special Deposit Scheme for Non-Government Provident, Superannuation and Gratuity Funds

On 3 July 2026, the Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs) notified that deposits made under the Special Deposit Scheme (SDS) for Non-Government Provident, Superannuation and Gratuity Funds will earn interest at 7.1% per annum for the quarter from 1 July 2026 to 30 September 2026.

Key Highlights

1. The notification specifies the interest rate applicable to deposits under:

   • Non-Government Provident Funds;

   • Superannuation Funds; and

   • Gratuity Funds.

2. The Special Deposit Scheme (SDS) allows approved PF, superannuation, and gratuity trusts to invest funds with the Government and earn a notified interest rate.

3. Deposits under the Scheme will earn interest at:

   Interest rate	7.1% per annum
   Applicable period	1 July 2026 to 30 September 2026

4. The notified rate came into effect from 1 July 2026.
