Uganda High Court in Nicholas Jjengo v. James Abola held that unverified and sensational allegations shared in a workplace WhatsApp group can amount to defamation. While such communication may attract qualified privilege, it is defeated by malice, including recklessness and failure to verify, leading to damages and apology directions.
