Fox & Mandal WBJEE 2025

The Supreme Court on Friday stayed a Calcutta High Court order that had directed the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) Board to redraw its merit list on the basis of a pre-2010 OBC classification list.

The stay removes the immediate hurdle in the declaration of WBJEE 2025 results and, more significantly, affirms that the State’s reservation policy notified on June 10, 2025 will govern all ongoing and forthcoming admissions and recruitments.

Mr. Debanjan Mandal, Managing Partner, Fox & Mandal, Counsel for the State welcomed the order, observing: “Faith in the justice system has been reaffirmed today. Justice may have been delayed, but it has not been denied — justice has prevailed.”

The State was represented by Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, assisted by the legal team from Fox & Mandal led by Mr. Debanjan Mandal, Managing Partner, Mr. Kunal Vajani, Joint Managing Partner, Mr. Sandip Dasgupta, Partner, Mr. Kunal Mimani, Partner, Ms. Mahima Cholera, Senior Associate, Mr. Prashant Alai, Senior Associate, Mr. Abhinav Rana, Associate.

The ruling is expected to bring stability to the admission and recruitment process in Bengal, safeguarding the interests of lakhs of students and aspirants.
