Bombay HC permits animal slaughter during Bakri Eid on 7-6-2025 and the Urus from 8-6-2025 to 12-6-2025 at Vishalgad Dargah

The Court clarified that the conditions imposed in Hajrat Peer Malik Rehan Mira Saheb Dargah v. State of Maharashtra, 2024 SCC OnLine Bom 1697 will also apply to the year 2025 and must be strictly complied with.

Bombay High Court: The Division Bench of Dr. Neela Gokhale and Firdosh P. Pooniwalla, JJ., permitted animal slaughter during the festival of Bakri Eid on 7-6-2025 and the Urus from 8-6-2025 to 12-6-2025, and the same was applicable to the applicant and its devotees.

The present interim application was filed by the applicant, Hajrat Peer Malik Rehan Mira Saheb Dargah, Vishalgad to seek permission for animal slaughter during the festival of Bakri Eid and the Urus.

The Court referred to the order dated 14-6-2024 in Hajrat Peer Malik Rehan Mira Saheb Dargah v. State of Maharashtra, 2024 SCC OnLine Bom 1697, wherein the slaughter of animals, at least for the festival of Bakri Eid and the Urus was permitted in the year 2024. The Court, after considering that a similar request was permitted in 2024, held that animal slaughter was permitted and the present order would apply during the festival of Bakri Eid on 7-6-2025 and the Urus from 8-6-2025 to 12-6-2025. Further, the Court opined that the permission was applicable to the applicant and its devotees.

The Court clarified that the conditions imposed in the order dated 14-6-2024 would also apply to the year 2025 and must be strictly complied with.
