President appoints Acting Chief Justices for Gauhati High Court and Karnataka High Court

The appointments were made in consequence of elevation of Chief Justices of Gauhati and Karnataka High Court as Supreme Court Judges.

On 29-5-2025, the President of India in exercise of powers under Article 223 of the Constitution, appointed Acting Chief Justices for the following High Courts:

Gauhati High Court

Justice Lanusunglcum Jamir, Judge of the Gauhati High Court, was appointed as Acting Chief Justice with effect from the date Justice Vijay Bishnoi, Chief Justice, Gauhati High Court relinquishes charge of his office consequent upon his elevation as a Judge of the Supreme Court.

Karnataka High Court

Justice Valluri Kameswar Rao, Judge of the Karnataka High Court, was appointed as Chief Justice with effect from the date Justice N.V. Anjaria, Chief Justice, Karnataka High Court relinquishes charge of his office consequent upon his elevation as a Judge of the Supreme Court.
