Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya appointed as the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court

Justice Upadhyaya was elevated as the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court on 29-07-2023. On 07-01-2025, the Supreme Court collegium recommended to transfer him as Chief Justice of Delhi High Court.

Ministry of Law and Justice: The Ministry of Law and Justice vide notification dated 14-01-2025 transferred Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, Bombay High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court and directed him to assume charge.

The notification had been issued in exercise of the President’s power under Article 222(1) of the Constitution of India to make such transfer after consultation with the Chief Justice of India.
