About UILS

University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS) was established as constituent department of Panjab University, in the academic session 2004-05. During a short span of time, it has emerged as one of the premier legal Institute with a unique blend of tradition and modernity.

Its mission is to equip the students with the skills to comprehend and diagnose the intricacies of various legal and other inter-disciplinary issues and devise solutions to these problems through analysis and reasoning. The stimulating and interactive academic environment of the Institute helps to hone the Drafting, Research, Advocacy, Interviewing and Negotiation- skills of the students.

  • Eligibility: The Competition is open to all students enrolled bona-fide on a regular basis in an Undergraduate (5 year or 3 year law) professional course or its equivalent conducted by any institution recognized by the Bar Council of India.
  • Fee: A registration fee of Rs. 3500/- is to be paid in favor of: Director, UILS Account No. 10444979993, IFS Code SBIN0000742, SBI, Sector 14, Panjab University.

4th Justice A.S. Anand National Mediation and Negotiation Competition

“In life, you may not get what you deserve, but you will definitely get what you negotiate.” With the aim of imparting Negotiation and Mediation skills to aspiring lawyers, the ADR & CCL Board, UILS presents the Fourth Edition of the Justice A.S. Anand National Mediation and Negotiation Competition (Hybrid) to be conducted on 5th of March 2024 and 14th-16th March 2024.

Participants will undergo skill development at each stage of the competition, with UILS eagerly anticipating the participation of students from across the country. Don your Freud apparel and Holmes Hat, and join us for a learning and fun-filled event centered on negotiation. The organizing committee and volunteers are dedicated to enhancing your experience.

  • Eligibility:

    The Competition is open to all students enrolled bona-fide on a regular basis in an Undergraduate (5 year or 3 year law) professional course or its equivalent conducted by any institution recognized by the Bar Council of India.

  • Team Composition:

    The Teams will be selected on ‘First Come First Served’ basis (Priority shall be determined on the basis of e-mail confirmation and receipt of duly filled Registration Forms which must reach the organizers before the due date, which is mentioned in the Rules of the Competition).

    Team shall consist of one Mediator and the Negotiating Team consisting of one Client and one Counsel.

  • Fee:

    The registration fee of Rs. 4,000 /- per team must be paid through Demand Draft/ NEFT to:

Quiz Competition- CivilSavvy 1.0

CivilSavvy: ‘Empowerment through Knowledge, Catalyst for Change’. CivilSavvy is a thrilling event that tests participants’ knowledge and understanding of diverse subjects relevant to the UPSC exams. Its an Invitation to competitors to engage in a battle of wits, tackling questions on history, geography, politics, economics, and current affairs. With each round, the intensity heightens as contestants demonstrate their grasp of intricate details and broad concepts crucial for civil service aspirants.

  • Eligibility: The Competition is open to all students enrolled bona-fide on a regular basis in an Undergraduate/ Postgraduate B.A./ B.Com/ Law course or its equivalent conducted by any institution. No Accomodation to be provided.

  • 15 March: Semi Finals Round (On campus) moot court competition, semi fianls & final round (on campus) mediation and negotiation & final round (on campus) quiz
  • 16 March: Final round (on campus) moot court competition & Valedictory ceremony at Law Auditorium, PU Campus.
