The Technolawgy Society, School of Law, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) is organising the 3rd Edition of the National Patent Drafting Competition which will be held on April 6 and April 7, 2024 via Hybrid mode under ageis of Vidhiutsav’24.

University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun was established in 2003 by the UPES Act of 2003 of the state legislature of Uttarakhand. The college was set up with an ambitious vision and a unique approach. The Technolawgy Society at the UPES School of Law is committed to addressing the developing concerns of cybercrime and intellectual property rights (IPR) in the digital realm. With an aim to transmit knowledge, this society focuses on finding a balance by developing community awareness concerning digital rights. The association hopes to cultivate Techno-Legal experts who comprehend the complicated junction of technology and the legal environment by encouraging a harmonious interplay between Science and Law.
ABOUT COMPETITION
The Technolawgy Society in collaboration with R.K. Dewan & Co. is organizing a National Patent Drafting Competition under the umbrella of ‘VidhiUtsav’, the annual law festival of the School of Law, UPES. In today’s world, patent drafting emerges as a crucial skill in the field of law, ensuring the protection of innovation and fostering technological development.
The competition unfolds in two distinct phases. During the initial phase, all the registered teams are required to submit their drafts through the designated Google Forms. Subsequently, all submissions will undergo a comprehensive assessment. Following this evaluation, the top three teams will be selected to advance to the second phase. In phase 2, the selected top three teams will present their submissions in person before distinguished specialists in the field of patent drafting. Upon the presentation, rankings will be conferred upon the three finalists. Additionally, a masterclass conducted by a patent expert will be offered to the finalists.
