R.K. Tankha Memorial

The Moot Court Association of National Law Institute University, Bhopal (‘NLIU-Bhopal’) is delighted to announce the Ninth edition of our flagship event the NLIU – Justice R.K. Tankha Memorial International Arbitration Moot, 2024 which is going to be held physically on campus of NLIU, Bhopal, India from 05th – 07th April, 2024.

About NLIU- Bhopal

NLIU Bhopal is the second National Law School in India. It is amongst the premiere law schools of the nation imparting quality education with the objective to contribute to national development by instilling a sense of responsibility among its students, while simultaneously cultivating spirit of intellectual freedom, qualities of leadership, imaginative power and clarity. It has grown to this stature due to the illustrious achievements of its students, alumni and faculty members in various fields.

About the Moot and its Partners

The Moot is organised annually in partnership with the Office of Mr. Vivek Tankha, Senior Advocate and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, in the memory of his father Late Hon’ble Mr. Justice R.K. Tankha. This edition is supported by the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), one of the world’s leading arbitral institutions, as the Institutional Partner and Allen & Gledhill LLP, a Singapore-based law firm with operations in multiple countries as the International Law Firm Partner. Further, J. Sagar Associates one of the leading full-service law firms in the country, is the Indian Law Firm Partner. Jus Mundi, one of the leading search engines for arbitration and international law, is the Research Partner for this edition of the moot. Awards for this edition include cash prizes for the meritorious participants, trophies, and access to research resources.

The Case Record for this edition has been drafted by Dr. Ajar Rab, (Founding Partner, ANR Law LLP). He is an arbitrator with an experience of 12 years in the field of commercial litigation, international arbitration and corporate transactions. He has authored various scholarly books and articles. He is also a visiting faculty at NLSIU, Bangalore and a distinguished faculty at NUJS, Kolkata.

Important Dates

  • Deadline for provisional registration: 18th January, 2024

  • Deadline for seeking Clarifications: 23rd January, 2024

  • Submission of Memorials (Claimant): 27th February, 2024

  • Submission of Memorials (Respondent): 29th February 2024

  • Oral Rounds: 5th to 7th April, 2024.

Registration Procedure

The institutions can register themselves, for the Competition, provisionally through their designated Moot Court Association or individually by filling the Google Form attached here.
