The Pro Bono Club established by Department of Justice, Government of India at MNLU Mumbai invites registration for a Training Workshop on ‘Drafting of Living Wills’. We invite registrations from law students and legal professionals for this Training Workshop that will be held on 21st October, 2023.

About Pro Bono Club, MNLU Mumbai

The Pro Bono Club established by Department of Justice, Government of India at MNLU Mumbai is committed to promoting legal awareness, social justice, and community engagement. The main objectives of the club are:

  1. Enrol the students of the University in the Nyaya Bandhu (Pro-Bono Legal Services Club) Programme to assist private and public bodies, such as Government Departments and lawyers to carry out pro-bono work.

  2. To facilitate undertakings and projects to give the students an opportunity to volunteer and work in favour of underprivileged communities. This is done with the aim of actually helping those in need and also allowing the students to explore the intricacies of social work and establish themselves as contributing professionals in society.

  3. The Pro-Bono Club will be working on the ‘Assisted Model’ where it will be collaborating with governmental and private organizations; which in turn would improve the efficiency and efficacy of the Club in all its undertakings.

Details of the Event

The Workshop will entail the presence of esteemed individuals in their respective fields. We are privileged to have the Hon’ble Dr. Justice Kaushal Jayendra Thaker, Chairperson of the State Human Rights Commission, Gujarat, as our distinguished Chief Guest. Joining us as the Speaker for this workshop is Dr. Nikhil Datar, an accomplished Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. Additionally, we are delighted to have Dr. Vipul Mudgal, a renowned Journalist and Academic CEO of Common Cause, as our esteemed Guest of Honour.

This workshop will enable students in understanding the concept and law on advance directives in the backdrop of the Right to life v. Right to die. It is designed to enhance students’ drafting skills and equip them for practical application. Participating students shall, as a part of the workshop go to the field, for drafting as well as extend their services to train others. They shall also draft a living will for interested people and assist them in getting it registered as a Pro Bono activity.

Note: All participants will get an e-certificate in the name of Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai.

  • Confirmation mail of admission, along with the links to the event, will be notified to your Email ID post registration.
