About the Organizers-

Banaras Hindu University is a temple of learning located in the revered city of Varanasi. With the assistance of notable figures like Dr. Annie Besant, who saw it as the University of India, the great nationalist leader Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya established this creative and inventive university in 1916. The B.H.U. Act 1915, a piece of parliamentary legislation, was used to establish Banaras Hindu University.

The history of the Faculty of Law, BHU, which dates back 100 years, is unmatched by any traditional institution in our nation. This prestigious law school has historically produced outstanding legal luminaries and continues to develop the brightest minds in the world to work in the legal profession.

About the Competition

The Faculty of Law at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi is hosting the 10th edition of the prestigious Mahamana Malaviya National Moot Court Competition, from March 24th to 26th 2023. The Competition shall consist of the following rounds i.e., Memorial Selection Round, Researcher’s Test, Two Preliminary Rounds, and Three Advanced Rounds, viz. Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and Finals.

The 9th Mahamana Malaviya National Moot Court Competition 2022, which took place from April 1—3, 2022, was the previous iteration of the competition. The moot problem was related to the Information Technology Act and Constitutional Law. Respected members of the Bar Council and the Judiciary were invited to serve as judges for the competition’s various rounds. Retd. Justice Pradeep Srivastava, Justice Siddharth and Justice Krishan Pahal judged the final round.

Eligibility

The competition is open to bona fide undergraduate students from recognized Colleges/Institutions/Universities currently pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Law through recognized courses.

Location-

The Competition will take place at the Law School (Faculty of Law), Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh – 221005.

How to Register?

To express their interest for competing in the “10th Mahamana Malaviya National Moot Court Competition, 2023,” all teams must email the duly filled, scanned copy of the Registration Form provided in the Brochure. The email must be sent to mccfacultyoflawbhu@gmail.com with the subject “Registration for 10th Mahamana Malaviya National Moot Court Competition, 2023.” before January 20, 2023, 11:59 PM IST.

This will be regarded as the participating institution’s tentative registration. The competition brochure contains more information regarding the same.

Fee details

Post memorial selections, the teams qualifying for the oral rounds shall have to deposit a participation fee of INR 5,000 latest by 2nd March, 2023, 11:59 PM IST, for final registrations.

The details of payment method will be intimated along with the result of memorial selection round on 26th February, 2023.
