The Law and Technology Society of the National Law School of India University is hosting the annual flagship conference, Consilience, on the theme of Artificial Intelligence and the Law on May 20th, 2017. The committee is engaged in promoting awareness and interest in the field of law and technology.

Consilience is well-known for its high quality of academic and policy-based discussions and in the past, the Conference has been graced by the presence of eminent persons such as –

· Mr. Jacob Appelbaum (Core Member, Tor Project and Former Spokesperson, Wikileaks),

· Mr. Richard Stallman (Founder – GNU Project),

· Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia (Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission of India),

· Mr. Kris (Senapathy) Gopalakrishnan (Co-Founder and Executive Vice Chairman, Infosys & President, CII)

Previous editions of Consilience have addressed important themes such as ‘Legal Issues Pertaining to Cloud Computing’, ‘Legal Aspects of Business Process Outsourcing’, ‘Biotechnology and the Law’, ‘Internet Intermediary Liability in India’, ‘Free/Open Source Software (FOSS)’, ‘Data Protection and Cyber Security in India’, ‘Net Neutrality in India’ and ‘Open Access and IP’.

Consilience 2017 will have three sessions. The first shall focus on a general introduction to Artificial Intelligence, along with scientific developments that have been made in the field. The second session shall be concerned with the applicative functions of AI, particularly in the legal field. The final session shall be focused on the jurisprudential aspects of the implementation and regulation of AI. We have a great list of panelists lined up for the conference. They include –

· Sandeep Kapoor (General Counsel, Sequoia Capital)

Lunch and snacks shall be provided to all attendees of the conference. Further, attendees who are present for all three sessions of the conference shall receive a certificate indicating their participation.

Registration for the conference: Fees for students is Rs 300 and fees for practitioners is priced at Rs 700. We look forward to hosting you at the NLSIU!
